Congratulations Artlands Creative!

Three years ago in April 2019 The Artlands became a Model A Comprehensive Fiscal Sponsored Project of The Arts Area, providing them immediate 501(c)(3) nonprofit status and eligibility for charitable donations, seeking grants, and providing them institutional support, such as, accounting services, tax reporting, grant writing, contract preparation, purchasing, credit card processing, general liability insurance, human resources, and other back office services. To say the least it's been a wild three years, but it has been a pleasure to support them and watch their growth, from opening the gallery in Redlands to their many innovative and inclusive community projects throughout the region.

We now offer project director Daniel Gohman and his team congratulations as they enter into the next phase of their evolution as a separate incorporated business, Artlands Creative. You likely saw in their April 2022 announcement, they have joined forces with the Coachella Valley Art Scene to support communities of the Inland Empire, Coachella Valley, and high desert areas. As they are in this transition period awaiting their 501(c)(3) tax-exempt determination from the IRS, The Arts Area is proud to be able to continue our support of their work by entering into a temporary Model C Pre-Approved Grant Fiscal Sponsorship relationship with Artlands Creative, allowing them to continue to apply for grants and accept tax-deductible donations in the interim through The Arts Area.

This is a wonderful success story on the important role fiscal sponsorship can play in assisting creative projects and startup organizations as they experiment and test out new ideas while learning the complexities of running a nonprofit business. Again, congratulations! It has been a pleasure serving you. We look forward to seeing your next steps.
